Turf Science Site

The site at the OSU Turf Science Laboratory was under tall fescue until the Spring of 1997 when it was treated with Roundup. It was tilled to a depth of 3 inches prior to seeding.

Seed mixtures were sown on the 315 site on May 24 and on the Turf Science site, June 13 and 16. Areas for different mixes were marked out with string. Seeds were mixed with vermiculite to help dispersal and broadcast by hand.

The plots were raked to bury seed. The 315 site was rolled to compact the soil surface but conditions at the Turf Science site were too wet for rolling.
