1997 Seed mix trials

We want to find out whether native grasses and wildflowers can be used to establish attractive, low-maintenance areas as an alternative to the usual turfgrasses that are used around commercial and domestic properties. Mixes of native grasses with and without wild flowers were obtained from commercial sources and used to set up two trials.

The first trial is on the east face of an artificial mound alongside State Route 315 in the Chadwick Arboretum at OSU:

The second area is to the east of a small lake at the OSU Turfgrass Science Facility:
