The student must maintain a graduate cumulative grade point-hour average (GPA) of 3.0 or better in all graduate credit courses, and must demonstrate reasonable progress towards graduate program requirements. Failure to maintain a GPA of 3.0, or failure to maintain reasonable progress towards a degree, will result in the student being placed on probation by the Graduate School. If the student's GPA falls below 3.0, the GSC will contact the student and his/her advisor to discuss the options. The GSC will inform the student of the actions to be taken if they are not able to raise the GPA to 3.0 by the end of the quarter of probation. The student on probation must obtain approval of both current and proposed schedules from the GSC. While on academic probation, the student will be permitted to continue enrollment if the student demonstrates steady improvement of the graduate GPA while taking the set of courses approved on the Graduate Course Program, but the GSC has the option to deny further registration. The GSC will deny renewal of a GA to a student on probation (see OSU Graduate School Handbook.) Reinstatement of support may be approved when the student attains a GPA of 3.0 or better. The GSC may deny enrollment to students who, while maintaining a graduate GPA of 3.0 or greater, fail to make reasonable progress toward completion of program requirements. Students who are denied enrollment for any reason must apply through the GSC to be reinstated by the Graduate School in order to continue work towards a degree.
